I believe that being a counselor is a privilege and I hold the ethics of this profession very dearly. You deserve to be treated with warmth, attention, and empathy. To share your life stories and deepest hurts takes a great deal of courage and that deserves to be honored. I'm here to help you feel confident in your own skin and heal from layers of shame and trauma.
I first knew I wanted to become a counselor in 11th grade psychology and have been a licensed counselor since 2009. I have a dual Master's Degree in Community Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy from John Brown University and am very experienced with many different types of therapy.

I’m an empty nester who's been married for many years. I have an adult daughter, who is currently teaching me how to be a "Swiftie" and my husband and I are the caregivers of two wonderful dogs - a Pomeranian, who had to have a life-saving heart surgery when she was a puppy, and a Chinese Crested Powder Puff.
I’m also a proud supporter and ally of the LGBTQIA+ community and believe in equality, inclusion, and human rights.
As a counselor, I make sure to do my own self-care and emotional work. For me, that might look like going for a walk or doing some kickboxing workouts, reading some historical fiction and of course, burning one of my favorite Bath and Body candles.
I'm also a big believer that fuzzy socks, lip balm, music, candles, cold water, and warm tea can lighten any burden.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). This evidence-based therapy technique helps individuals process traumatic memories and overcome distressing experiences. By utilizing bilateral stimulation or movement, EMDR facilitates the reprocessing of traumatic memories, reducing emotional distress and fostering emotional resilience. I incorporate parts work, and I am a somatic EMDR practitioner.
Sand tray therapy isn't just for children. In this unique approach, adults can construct their life stories, focusing on thoughts, feelings, experiences, and behaviors, while highlighting strengths and resources. It's a powerful tool for self-expression and exploration, regardless of age.
This approach helps individuals build skills to manage emotions, tolerate distress, improve relationships, and enhance mindfulness. By integrating acceptance and change strategies, DBT empowers clients to navigate life's challenges with resilience and balance.
